Why can’t I seek through Windows Media Video (WMV) files?

If you find that you cannot move easily through WMV video files try updating to Windows Media Player 9 or installing the Windows Media 9 Series Codecs. Any problems with DRM encoded files:

Why is there no video displayed when I try to play files with FrameShots? And, why can’t I seek through videos or capture thumbnails?

Through Add/Remove programs, remove all and any “codec packs” such as the “Nimo Codec Pack.” These often cause issues with FrameShots as well as any other programs that use DirectShow (a feature of DirectX that allows software to play videos).

The creators of Zoom Player offer a very helpful tutorial on cleaning up codecs on your system, so that DirectShow can be used properly by software to playback most video file types. Most issues with FrameShots video playback are explained in the Zoom Player tutorial.

When I open DRM encoded files in FrameShots the seeking and colors are not right.

FrameShots does not natively support Real Media movies. However, because FrameShots utilizes DirectShow (a feature of DirectX that allows software to play videos), installing DirectShow filters for Real Media will in theory will enable FrameShots to load these types of files.

Note: The following DirectShow filters are not supported by EOF Productions. Download, install, and use at your own risk.

Please keep in mind that various reasons can cause a delay of up to 24 hours before a registration key is received. In most cases a registration key will be emailed within a few minutes after purchase.
