- Click “Open” to open a new video file.
- Hit the play button to play the movie.
- Hit “Snap Shot ” to take a snapshot of the movie. This captures a single frame of video.
- Hit “Save Thumbnail” to save the thumbnail to a file.
- The two double arrows and the main video slider help to navigate back and forth within the video clip.
- The best part about this program, you can skip frame by frame or by any amount to find the exact frame you want to capture. The skip buttons and “skip amount” slider control the amount of frames to skip by.

- Thumb Width and Height - Sets desired width and height of your new movie thumbs.
- Resample Filter - The filter used when resizing the image to the thumb width and height. Read more about Resample Filters.
- JPEG Quality - The higher the number, the bigger the file size and the better the quality. There isn’t a significant quality difference between 90 and 100, but with 90 the file size is significantly smaller.
- Trim Thumb - This option will a) trim off any black borders that are typically found in movie clips and b) trim the thumb to exactly the thumb width and height. With both options unchecked, FrameShots will try to make a thumb within the size constraints while maintaining the video aspect ratio and will not trim the thumb.
